5th Witold Lutoslawski International Contest for Young Conductors in Bialystok
Witold Lutoslawski International Contest for Young Conductors is a very unusual initiative, as it is addressed to debutants entering musical scene.
By organizing another edition of this unique project, we aim to support young, talented people in achieving their goals. It is our duty to select the best contestants and give them a chance they truly deserve.
The Contest is a very special and one of the kind project. It enables outstandingly talented young people from all around the world to present their skills.
The first edition of the contest took place in 1994 and was then a national competition. From its 4th edition which took place in 2006, the Contest gained an international rank. Previous editions attracted dozens of young conductors. Most of them have already began their successful and vividly developing careers.
This year 184 young conductors from 43 countries sent their applications. The Verification Committee selected 32 representatives from 17 countries who will compete forvery attractive prizes. Not only financial awards are provided for the winners. Being the 1st prize winner guarantees participation in the G. Fitelberg International Contest for Conductors in Katowice. The laureates of the Contest, although yet unknown, have already been invited to cooperate with many philharmonics in Poland.
