2. „Nature” -exhibition Wernisaż: 15.05.2011, 6 p.m. Foyer of the POdlasie Opera and Philharmonic in Białystok OiFP
The exhibition contains 2 elements: photographs of nature by Roman Rogoziński, employee of Augustów Forest Inspectorate, and sculptures made by a well known sculptor – forester Sławomir Smyk, a worker of Bielsk Podlaski Forest Inspectorate. The photographic part presents nature, mostly Podlasie primeval forests, mostly but not only the Augustów primeval forest and seen by Roman Rogoziński. He is a charismatic person well known from his photographs presenting not only fields of forest but also a passion and relation between the photographer and the nature.
An integral element of the exhibition are the sculptures made by Sławomir Smyk. The works are made of two materials: wood and stone. The artist describes wood sculpturing as “opening the wood”. By taking of next layers of this natural material the artist approaches a hidden dynamic form of a wooden soul. Recently Sławomir Smyk has been discovering possibilities of sculpturing in stone. Stones as materials are various, however Sławomir Smyk obtains a form perfectly corresponding with structure and texture of a precise stone.
